Shakeup in the State House: Major changes announced among LePage’s top staff
Very interesting. Rumor has it Congdon made a racist statement up in the County recently.

AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage’s office announced a major series of staff changes within his cabinet on Wednesday, including the resignation of one commissioner, the resignation and transfer of another commissioner to another department and the nomination of yet another.

Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Darryl Brown resigned from that post and will take over as head of the State Planning Office, which LePage has proposed to eliminate in his two-year budget.

Earlier Wednesday, news broke that Attorney General William Schneider informed the LePage administration that unless Brown could produce documents proving otherwise, he appeared unqualified to serve as DEP commissioner.

The governor’s office said Brown has accepted the position at the planning office, and that Jim Brooks, director of the Bureau of Air Quality, will become acting DEP commissioner.

The office also announced that Philip Congdon, commissioner of Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner, has resigned. Congdon, a retired Texas Instruments executive living in Maine, took his post in January. An acting head of DECD was not named in the release, and LePage spokeswoman Andrienne Bennett said there is no official word on a replacement.
