Alfred Representative Accused of Clean Election Violations

Rep. David R. Burns, a first term representative, is accused of using some public campaign funds for personal use and of falsely reporting expenditures.

An Alfred representative is facing possible criminal charges for alleged misuse of Clean Election Funds. According to a Maine Ethics Commission audit, Republican Rep. David R. Burns spent at least $2,500 of the $9,066 in public funds he was authorized to spend on his 2010 election campaign on personal expenses.

The audit also found that Burns falsely reported $1,295 in expenditures, which he then tried to justify by fabricating cash register receipts, according to commission staff.

The staff is recommending that the results of the audit be referred to the Maine Attorney General's Office, which would decide whether to launch a criminal investigation. The staff's recommendation will be taken up at a meeting on Nov. 30.

I am sure he couldn't have known and if he had he would have known how to get those receipts manufactured to fool those investigators.
what do you think the odds are that a slap on the wrist will be the only action if any!

this seems to be the norm lately;a brief run if a repuke and a big blast if it is a democrat.
the thing that gets me is it is definitely a criminal case as he tried to manufacture receipts!
Or else the original report was bungled-which is highly unlikely! I don't care what party this jerk is in it is obvious he doesn't play by the rules so he should be forced to yield his seat. like the last one who banished a gun took 6 months! cmon wheres your ability to lead lapuke? get on the air and demand a resignation this is blatant criminal action when you falsify receipts!
