2. I love Baltimore
They have done a remarkable job downtown. I remember when dfowntown used to be pretty skeezy. Fells Point and Canton are also great.
MT Vernon and Charles areas are very nice too.

86. Don't forget Bolton Hill and it's surrounding area
I live in Bolton Hill. The area has the best examples of Baltimore grand row houses. In fact, I love my old row house. I love Bolton Hill. I think it's streets are prettiest in Baltimore.

BTW, try our neighborhood restaurant 'B'. They have great brunch menu on Sunday morning, which we regularly go. We don't go there for dinner much just because my baby does not sit through dinner time. We have to wait till my daughter will be old enough.

Bolton Hill, Mt. Royal, Resevoir Hill. I particularly like the Richardsonian Romanesque rows.

Your right---the grand row houses in that area are magnificent.

5. Baltimore City
Pigtown. It's pretty much a dump right now, but there is some good construction going on on the site of the old Slaughterhouse/factory (sadly, it's so highly polluted it's considered a brown field, so the houses there can't have basements). And there is some encouraging construction going on on washington boulvard. HOpefully we'll push the dealers out. Gentrification isn't such a bad thing when it cleans up your neighborhood.

24. Question for you.
Hi Zuni,

I just returned from a trip to Baltimore, Havre De Grace, and Annapolis and I'm disheartened -- too many repukes! In fact, I didn't hear one good word about Kerry (I overheard some conversations) and all the yard signs and bumper stickers I saw were for B-C. I even saw some repuke umbrellas on a rainy day in Annapolis!

I live in Dayton, Ohio, and we're a bit more pro-Kerry/Edwards here, at least where "visibility" is concerned. What's up with your part of the country?

Even if it's part public transportation, it must take a long time. I go from Germantown to Rockville which isn't bad, 15 minutes around 7:00am if there's no accidents on I270.

Part of the conservative stronghold of Maryland (The 6th district). Supporting a Democrat for President in Frederick can be hazardous to your health.

If you need any help learning about the area, just follow the link in my sig to my blog and contact me from there.

Former home of our anti-union right wing crack pot Goobernor. Arbutus is a proud working class community. It used to be a union town before the republicans shipped all of our jobs to their overseas contributors. I miss Paris. I always felt good knowing that he was at the helm. No it is scary to wake up knowing that republitards are running my state and my country. We need to take this country back for the workers. Power to the workers. Down with the man. Down with management. No one will look out for the workers except the Union

42. Davidsonville
The slums of anne arundle county.

I lived on 8th street behind the laurel mall from the time I was born 1958 until I was 5, then parents moved to MD City right off of 198. I remember when 198 was dirt road part of the way, two lanes and you had to use the wooden bridge next to the race track to get into the city of laurel. Thats going back a ways.

Then I lived in Virginia Beach from 78 till 91 while I was in the Navy. EOD.

Moved back to Maryland in 91, met my now current wife, bought the property, had a kid, well, my wife had the kid, my contribution was only a few minutes of fun.

Plan to stay here until I retire, then will move to the eastern shore where I intend to purchase property on the water where I can keep my boat floating all year.

66. DUNDALK....
I live in Dundalk a suburb right outside of Baltimore City. Dundalk has a repuation of being dirty and full of white trash. I dont think its that bad and I acutally like it here.

76. We do roll-up the carpet rather early...
as it's as quite as a mouse just off of the main drag, namely "Merritt Blvd." I agree. And hello fellow Dundalkian <--- is that what we're called? But I must agree with that reputation part. It depends where you're situation - it's a small town.

106. You Won't Believe this, but...
We have more than just similiar usernames, too! They roll-up the carpet mighty fast 'round here, don't they. Dundalkian is about right. The fireworks hit the house a bit too much for my liken, but I'm getting use to "incoming fears," if you know what I mean.

Moved from city and I miss it! It's mostly Dem's here, still I'm seeing a few Confed flags hanging 'round lately.

:hi: neighbor!

71. Rodgers Forge
Rodgers Forge. It's just south of Towson and north of the city line. It's a great family-friendly neighborhood with great schools and plenty of overpriced townhouses. The only way I can afford to live there is by renting an apartment. Otherwise, I highly recommend it.

Is that near GBMC? I went to college in Baltimore about a thousand years ago, and got to know the area a bit...

74. yes, near GBMC
Thanks for the welcome .... :-)

Yes, it's near GBMC where I've done time. The sheets smell like burnt rubber, the pillows are stuffed with cardboard, and the food is classic hospital cuisine .... awful!
St. Josephs hospital, which has similar accomodations, but slightly better, is close-by too.

Which college?

104. No
I frequent the "blue underground" here in Easton. From the UUs, Quakers, and Church of the Brethren, to artists and writers who have settled here, to the large Dean group I helped to organize here a couple years ago, to other groups like the peace group I belong to, there's a strong center left undercurrent here. Although I'm no longer a Democrat, there's a large number of elected Democrats here in local government too.

With more people from the other side of the Bay moving here, all that may increase. That would be good because at the moment it's still just a strong undercurrent. I would like to see it become more of a tidal wave, but that's hard in such rural area.

I live in Illinois now, but my childhood home was in Baltimore on Maryland Ave., a neighborhood which, last I saw of it on a brief visit, was totally blighted--trees cut down, gardens and grassy patches all cemented over.

117. Welcome, yanggers!
I live in St. Mary's County, about 8 miles north of the college.

There's a great group of young folks at SMCM -- judging from the ones I worked with at the local Dean Meetups and see perform and the excellent live theatre presentations on campus.
