1. Not that strong

Doesn't break 41% ...and loses to Mfume who is generally considered a weak entry. Van Hollen is not that well known outside MOntgomery County. He was a great campaigner (he had to be to oust Morella). If he is the niminee those numbers will go up!

but Mfume is the best candidate and if the state Dems could get behind him now, it would work to their benefit in 2006
