Mostly a rant - Maryland's ridiculous liquor laws
Mint is taking over my garden. I had a brilliant idea to make some mojitos. Only problem - it was Sunday. I'm in PG - no hard liquor on Sunday. Tried a liquor store in Mo Co - closed. What the heck? So where can one go to purchase hard liquor on Sunday? Do I have to cross the river?

1. Here's an even more ridiculous law--
My parents lived in Connecticut years ago, and I came to visit them on July 4th, which was a Saturday that year. The parents were planning on having gin&tonics, but I wanted beer. Couldn't buy beer (or any liquor) that particular Saturday, because it was a holiday! Crazy state law. Fortunately they lived the NY border, so went to a NY store so I could have a couple of beers on July 4th!

2. I think the Liquor Stores open at noon on Sunday in PG
Montgomery County Liquor stores are closed on Sundays and holidays. DC Liquor Stores are open on Sunday. I think all the Liquor stores are closed in Virginia on Sunday as well.

6. PG's are open but only for beer and wine
Big tarps over the hard stuff. Seems pretty silly.

16. That's always a good thing, Sam.
Good for you! I dont' get out enough to worry about it these days.

Now, in my old days... But anymore, I'm a drag.

Even the dog sighs way too much my way, anymore.

7. Or Anne Arundel
if you are in the north part of the county.

And as you've probably figure out by now, they aren't state regs. They are county. If you're unhappy tell your county council. Or better yet, run for county council.

9. I was about to say the same thing.
Actually I believe it is 1am on weekends. There is one every mile or so, you can't miss them. Just make sure your airbags are working properly before you come down because the drunks prefer moving automobiles over trees around here.

11. One of my jackass reps (Ross)
got all liquor stores closed in PG closed a midnight.

Way to go man! I feel safer already!

I actually prefer it when my fine elected representatives curtail my rights.

Would someone please think of the children!

I guess he's lining himself up a slot when the Theocrats take over.

12. Nothing is worse than PA liquor laws
YOu can't buy your beer and hard liquor in the same store :eyes:

At least I'm in Delaware where we have sensible drinking laws - you can always come to DE to buy your booze! And the tax is cheaper on them

14. Didn't DE just start selling liquor on sundays?
plus you can't smoke in their bars. Damn nanny state.

13. I was in PA last weekend. Needed to do a beer run for my cousin
Went to the beer store and wanted to buy a 12pack of Corrona and a 12 of Corrona light(its what she was serving not my choice). Nope can't do that. You can only buy full cases of the same kind of beer. If you want a six pack you have to go to a bar and deal with their huge markup.

15. Are You Kidding? PG Co is Dry on Sunday's?
Are you near a county line? Or get a boat. Kidding...

Ouch. I thought they only did that kind of stuff in Georgia or PA.
Wow. I don't get out enough.

How about stocking-up on Saturdays? My deepest sympathies.

Someone mentioned in the blogosphere about Maryland becoming "redder and redder..." Beginning to wonder myself.

18. Not a problem in Annapolis
We have a great liquor store not too far from my house - Bay Ridge Liquors. It's open on Sunday and you can buy anything, wine, beer, hard liquor. And I am pretty sure they would have had whatever you needed to make mojitos.
