3. Good news.
But we still have the rest of the remnants of Cindy to deal with. The danger is not completely over.

5. It was very freaky. ...
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 06:19 PM by Debbi801
I work in Sparks, my youngest's day care is in Hunt Valley. I generally get off at 4:30. They would not let any of us leave. They made us all go into a window-less conference room in the middle of the building. This is a first for that kind of precaution.

Once it was lifted at 5, they let us go home. Elshiva (not sure if I got the spelling right) lives in that area.

Debbi

Edited to add that I just PM'd her to check in.

6. I saw some pictures of the funnels this morning.
Scary! We are so not used to that around here. I used to live in Hunt Valley. Nice area. Have they torn down the mall yet?

7. Goodness, the mall is incredible...
Goodbye death valley mall and hello hunt valley town center. It is great, and it is only about 1/3-1/2 open. Already, the difference in traffic to the shopping center is huge. The architecture is very pretty and welcoming, there is a nice variety of shops and restaurants, with a lot more to come. And, Wegmans is supposed to open in the fall. Not sure when Greetings and Readings is opening.

If you are ever out that way, it is worth checking out. Now, if only they'd get rid of walmart.

8. No kidding!
I saw the Walmart last time I was out there (my SO and I were chasing a thunderstorm) and I was quite dismayed. What happened to Dicks?

9. Dicks is still there...
Right now, it is on the "back" of Walmart... Directly behind it. Not sure whether it is staying there or moving once construction is finished.

I know this is not a complete list, but here are the new stores that have opened or are opening there:

Caribou Coffee
Chipotle Mexican
Gellato Factory
Carvel's Ice Cream
Carmines Italian Pizza
Quizno
Panera Bread
Noodles & Co.
Cheeburger Cheeburger
(several other more upscale restaurants whose names I cannot remember)

Ritz Camera
Chicos
White House Black Market
Coldwater Creek
Jos A Banks
Ann Taylor
Greetings and Readings
Wegman's
A spa of some sort
a maternity store
A shoe store that carries only "walking" type shoes
I know I am missing many others.

It is really nice, there is music piped in through speakers, fountains, lots of benches, etc. It is a very nice atmosphere.

10. Sounds a lot better than the old mall
When I moved to the city stores in the HV Mall were just closing left and right and they were just starting to talk about renovating. I'm glad they finally did it.
