Supporting O'Malley
Hi Marylanders,

I have my clockradio set to WBAL, because it gets a clear signal and wakes me up -- but it often wakes me up in a bad mood. This morning, it was Chip Franklin railing on O'Malley, dragging in everything but the kitchen sink to slam him. ("Then there was that time during the anthrax attacks where he told everybody to turn off their air conditioners right when Laura Bush was coming in to read to children!" Or some such.)

I admit I haven't been good about following LOCAL politics closely enough, but I need to start. I went to the Sun's page to read more about the hotel deal and Ehrlich's meddling in the city's schools. There's a discussion board there full of O'Malley haters. I registered to post and am waiting for approval.

So, here are some questions:
- Are you supporting O'Malley? (You can sign up to volunteer for his campaign at http://www.martinomalley.com/action/ .)

- Are any of you signed up to post at the Sun's forum?

- What do you think of the Hilton hotel deal at the convention center?

1. Yes, I support Mayor Martin!
No, I'm not signed up at the Sun's forum.

If the hotel isn't built, some private developer will swoop in and build another $1+ million (per studio apt) deal.

Yes, the hotel is a risk, but damn! Baltimore is 45 minutes from DC and a much, much easier place to meet or stay overnight.

2. Yes, I support O'Malley....
No, not signed up for sunspot boards.

Don't know enough about the hotel, other than the bond issue, to have an opinion one way or the other. Like you, I need to become more knowledgeable about local politics.

-Yes I am registered at the Sun's forums. It sucks over there though. The forum is made up of extremely partisan dem's and extremely partisan rep's who do nothing, but bash Ehrlich and O'Malley all day long.

-Don't know enough. But if the community isnt supporting the idea, neither am I.

4. No. Yes. Bad.
I am supporting Duncan.

Sunspot has become thoroughly useless and I probably haven't posted in a year.

I think are much better uses of public money, and better opportunities for job creation. If a hotel of that size is such a great idea, someone should be willing to do it without taxpayer support.
