Poll question: Maryland Governor Race (Democratic Party)
This poll, like the US Senate poll on this same forum, is for Maryland residents ONLY. If you were born in Maryland and now live in another state, feel free to give your point of view but do NOT vote in the poll. Thanks!

In the Democratic Primary for the Maryland Governor's race: Doug Duncan or Martin O'Malley?

1. Sorry but O'Malley is the next governor
He stood up to Bush, he said that he was more afraid of Bush than the
terrorists, he's the one I am voting for.

4. More afraid of Bush
O'Malley said that? Wow, way to go! That's what I say, and people look at me as if I was crazy. Only one person so far has agreed with me, and he said,"Bush is more dangerous to this country than Ben Laden and Saddam, both."

5. Here's a link that mentions it
Baltimore mayor in spotlight for criticism of Bush,

Last summer, he told an audience that he was "even more worried" about Bush than terrorists.

6. Bush and mayors
Absolutely the opposite of Mayor Daley, who has turned himself into an agent of the Bush regime. I always knew we Marylanders were better than Illinoisans!

3. Duncan is the best man for the job.
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 07:23 PM by nickshepDEM
O'Malley hasnt impressed me enough as Mayor to support him for Governor. However, I will support O'Malley if he receives the nomination, but as of right now its gotta' be Doug.

9. O'Malley is NOT for the people
I suggest people go out and hear these people speak.

Douglas Duncan connects with people better. O'Malley is clueless about the electronic voting machines and acts positively dumb when they are brought up to him.

Duncan plans on making the voting machines an issue. Which i think more people need to stand up and do. Especially those considering themselves democrats in our state.

BTW . .unfortunately it is the "democrats" in Annapolis that are obstructing having a paper trail. Hollinger and her cronies.

Our Democrats are NOT listening to the people. We even went down and lobbied about the voting machines and they acted like we were a bother at our hearing before the House Ways and Means.

O'Malley is NOT your man. And if you want real democrats, people should start voting for others besides the same old sorry people that "pretend" to be democrats at the MD state house.

10. Electronic voting
What's the story about the Democrats opposing a paper trail? Sounds strange? Please explain. These Diebold machines scare me.

He is running early and hard taking personal credit for state funding with a Western MD photo op and story in our local RW rag:

"Ehrlich comes to town to announce cash awards”

by GREGORY T. SIMMONS
Gov. Robert Ehrlich and members of his cabinet announced 12 separate cash awards Thursday that will benefit Washington County redevelopment projects, police and other community programs. more

11. Duncan is toast due to Planning Board scandal
The Washington Post is reporting on 9/2 that more and more illegal plan changes are being discovered in building projects around Montgomery County. This is beyond the setback and height changes that the developer was allowed to sneak in in Clarksburg.

Once the full story of possible corruption in the county's planning department emerges, it will hand Ehrlich a huge campaign issue against Duncan. Duncan is already reputed to be hand in glove with area developers and this only serves to emphasize that accusation. Two people in the planning department have already resigned or taken early retirement in connection with this issue.
