Do you think they really have proof?
<snip>

BALTIMORE - For the first time, the operators of a California-based Web site are revealing they have evidence that an e-mail address from the Maryland Democratic State Party is associated with MD4BUSH. WBAL-TV 11 News I-Team reporter David Collins said the operators of FreeRepublic.com are not revealing the name behind MD4BUSH. But this is the first time that they are suggesting the state democratic party is associated with the MD4BUSH account on their Web site.

1. Now why would I
believe anything that came out of that site? I doubt they have proof specially since they refused to turn it over. Funny how they found proof after Steele decided to run for Senate. My question is did it take them this long to come up with a story line to try and turn it back on Dems or did Gov. Whiner ask them to hold off until Steele made up his mind?

2. They have been after this for some time
I first heard about the "possibility" back in April - and I stopped watching WBAL- channel 11 ever since then.

They have evidence, but they do not produce the evidence? I doubt they have any proof - they are trying to sway public opinion away from O'Malley as a result of the recent poll numbers.

Fact is - even if it were to be true - where is the problem? Rumors were being circulated, that is a fact. Steffen circulated the rumors and has admitted to doing so, so that is a fact. Steffen was close to the Governor and his wife. The rumors were out there in advance of these emails and Steffen promoted them with malicious intent. Why would it matter who encouraged him.

This is a non-story and WBAL should be embarrassed at being caught whoring so blatantly.

3. That's what I was thinking, smear campaign after smear campaign...
The first didn't work to lower MO'M's numbers so it is time to try a new one.

The problem is that too many people will take this as "proof" without ever seeing the documentation.

4. The problem lies in the fact that MD4BUSH maybe a Democratic staffer.
A staffer who 'setup' Steffen into smearing Martin O'Malley all over the internet. If they can link MD4BUSH to a Democratic staffer, or even worse, a Martin O'Malley staffer it proves that the smear campaign was triggered by an insider Dem rather than an Ehrlich aide.

To be honest, Im tired of the whole story and just wish it would go away.

5. MAY BE being the operative words
And no press on this story has even hinted that an O'Malley staffer would be implicated. The Democratic Party of Maryland strongly denies this.

Steffen admitted to doing this. Case closed. I don't care who encouraged him it is NO excuse.

The Erlich Administration is desperate. The Republicans will do anything to hold on to the Governor's seat.

6. How stupid would that be???
I mean using a traceable email address..if they actually set up the sting and hadn't gotten caught...now that would be brilliant. But to use an email address that could possibly be traced....that would be a stupid O'malley move. He will have given this race to Duncan, who will beat Ehrlich and become the next Governor. Plus they'll replay O'Malleys dramatics after "hearing" the rumours.

7. Let's see the proof, freepers!
I won't believe a word from that site until I see proof.
