New Gov Poll. Duncan leads by larger margin than O'Malley.

Ehrlich is viewed favorably by 48% of Maryland voters and unfavorably by 37%.

Fifty-three percent (53%) have a favorable opinion of O'Malley while 28% have an unfavorable view.

For Duncan, the numbers are 39% favorable, 32% unfavorable.

I live in Montgomery County, MD, Duncan's home turf, and everyone I know here dislikes Duncan because he is joined at the hip with developers.

3. He's great on education though.

And he did wonders in Silver Spring.

My gut tells me he will be the better candidate and better governor. He has much less dirt than O'Malley too.

10. It is pretty easy to be great on education

when you are the Manager of on of the wealthiest counties in the country. Outside of education, which is his primary issue, his other positions are somewhat muddier, but I expect they will firm up in time.

What dirt,are you referring to with regard to O'Malley.

One of the highest murder rates in the country. Worst school system in the state. Just to name a few things. All potential liabilities come general election time.

that everyone you know isn't everyone. His approval in MoCo is high. O'Malley will get a decent vote but Duncan is very popular in the County.

5. Everyone I knew in 2002 was against Duncan

but I lived down county where Duncan planned to put a road through our neighborhood.

Unfortunately for me and my friends, Duncan's candidates for the county council (who were heavily funded by developers) beat our candidates.

So objectively speaking, I think the majority of Montgomery County is for Duncan. However, I think many down county voters prefer O'Malley to Duncan. If Duncan wins the Democratic nomination, I think my friends will hold their noses and vote for him over Ehrlich. That's what I would do if I still lived in Maryland.

2. Those numbers don't make

Any sense. Duncan is viewed favorably by only 39% yet polls in at 48%.

I also think a year out favorables are more important than the horse race numbers. Favorables show the name ID of the candidate, how well liked he is, and how disliked he is.

That was just released. Baltimore city was the 6th most dangerous city in the nation.

7. O'Malley's numbers

Are a little questionable, but Duncan's numbers are really questionable. He only has. 39% favorables yet gets 48% in the poll doesn't make any sense

...have any reflection on the most dangerous city list. It should have been conducted prior to the release of the list.

9. Seems to be more a reflection of Erlich's falling

numbers than anything else. That is a good thing. Duncan V O'Malley is inconsequential to this. I tend to agree that the numbers don't make a lot of sense regarding Duncan favorables compared to voting for him for Gov. It does show, however, that either of our candidates could handily take down Bob Erlich, if the election were held today. Since it isn't, I will take it, along with all other early polling, with a grain of salt.

13. Where is the Duncan v. O'Malley poll.

It is good that either of our candidates is ahead of Ehrlich at this point, but I am interested in how the primary is shaping up. I support Duncan because he has more substance and a better record. I live in Baltimore, and am quite dissatisfied with O'Malley. We live under constant surveillance with cameras all over the place, and crime is as bad as ever. All of the bad elements of a police state and none of the supposed security. Improvements in the school system have been minor. O'Malley is as much a friend to developers as Duncan is supposed to be, and investments in struggling neighborhoods have been minimal.

The only reason O'Malley would beat Ehrlich is that Ehrlich has been so ineffective and hateful as governor.

14. As A MoCo Resident

I think Duncan has done a fine job as County Executive but I am still undecided. I like what I see thus far with O'Malley and think both are decent men. Duncan has revitalized Silver Spring and I think that took a miracle worker and anyone who knows what I'm talking about will agree with me. However, I think Duncan may be a DINO governor so I am waiting for the primary to decide.
