My Senate Endorsement....

1. Clear and concise. I am a strong Mfume supporter.

He is every bit as qualified and more inspiring. I am also inclined to support a black candidate who shares my views whenever I can. We still have a long way to go on representation. However, I will work just as hard for Ben Cardin if he is the nominee.

2. Same here for Mfume.

If he gets the nod Ill do everyting I can to make sure he is elected. I disagree about him being as qualified as Cardin though. The resumes are not comparable, IMO. But both are progressive democrats who would make fine senators.

...as opposed to a white/latin/asian/other candidate that supports your views? Race should have nothing to do with it.

Blacks are underrepresented in the Senate. If I am equally happy with Cardin and Mfume, my vote will go to Mfume for this reason.

Second, Americans are free to vote for whomever they prefer, for whatever reason.

I didn't realize asians and latinos were "properly or over-represented". The fact is, there's never a time where two candidates are exactly equal with the exception of skin color. Cardin and Mfume certainly aren't ideologically identical.

That's not my criterion. I said if I am equally satisfied with the candidates. One may be strong in one area important to me, the other stronger in a different area important to me.

Here you've lost me. For your information, I am a white voter who considers diversity in representation to be a factor in making political decisions. I did not say exclusively -- you did.

Are you grumbling that minorities always vote for minorities despite better white candidates? Then explain the nyc (mayor) race.
