Gubernatorial contender Martin O'Malley's selection of Del. Anthony G. Brown as a running mate shows that the Baltimore mayor has learned from the past, and has an eye on the future.

Recent Maryland political history offers instruction on what to do, and what not to do, when choosing a running mate. O'Malley seems to have absorbed lessons from predecessors about how to run the selection process, and what qualifications to look for in a partner. He formally introduced Brown, a Prince George's County Democrat, as his pick yesterday.

How do you see the impact of Curry to Ehrlich if it were to happen? Is he still as popular as he was in PG County? How does he compare to Del. Brown in popularity in the Washington metro area?

Is Curry such a maverick that he would really consider running on the Republican ticket? It's one thing to be part of a transition team, and another altogether to be part of the "real team". I've read the articles suggesting such, but not a peep is ever mentioned from Curry himself.

Do you think Duncan will just ditch Baltimore altogether, realizing that it's "too O'Malley" to have any sort of impact by selecting a Baltimore-based runningmate? IMO, I think Duncan needs to find someone with legislative experience at the State level. If he goes with Britt, he's picking up a good State lawmaker, but he alienates Baltimore. I can't see him selecting Curry. Two Washington metro area County Execs just doesn't make sense to me.
