Anybody in SW Baltimore County?

I live in the Catonsville/Arbutus area and find it a pretty conservative stronghold in an otherwise strongly Demo state. If anyone is out out there do you know of any Demo groups in the neighborhood?

1. I'm in Downtown Baltimore. All Dems all the time.

The only dem org I know of is in Towson, but the Social Action committee at the First Unitarian Church on Franklin St is very active. Right now, there's a major voter registration campaign going on.

Also, I know people in the Baltimore Peace Action group (they organize the local protests against Bush). PM me if you need more info or would like to get involved.

3. I go to school around there

UMBC is practically next door to Arbutus.

I don't know of any Dem groups in the neighborhood, but if memory serves, you're in state district 13, and that's represented by all Dems - Delegates Malone and DeBoy and Senator Kasenmeyer. I've met all of them through College Dems at UMBC and while they might be a bit on the conservative side, they are very good people.

I bet if you got in touch with one of them (especially Delegate Malone) they might be able to point you in the right direction.

If you're not in district 13, my apologies, and I don't know what to tell you, heh.

When I'm not at school I live up in NW Baltimore County in Reisterstown. Supposedly this is a key "swing area" within the state these days, but I don't really see it.

and have met all but Deboy. I belong to a community service organization in Arbutus. I did not think there was any activity in the immediate area, but may check in with these fellows to verify.

5. I am pleased to report there is a club

forming now in Southwest Baltimore County. Meeting is scheduled for May 12. Saw a flyer in the grocery store and was very happy to see it and they have a web site, although it is under construction.

6. My father grew up in Lansdowne

My grandmother lived there for many many years. The smell of the old Colt .45 Brewery used to make me queasy on hot days when I would visit.
