DFA is pretty active throughout Maryland -- I am the chair of Democracy for Howard County, so if anyone is in Howard County and would like more specifics, please let me know. In general, DFA Meetups are the first Wednesday of every month (go to
http://dfa.meetup.com to search by zip code for your closest group), but we are actually thinking about changing the day for Howard County, because the HoCo Democratic Central Committee also meets on the first Wednesday, and we'd like to be able to start going to some of their meetings.
There's actually a meeting coming up in the beginning of December, with members of all of the various county/local DFA groups, to talk about how best to coordinate things on a statewide level. Democracy for Maryland has a website:
http://www.democracy4maryland.com, but it's still a work in progress and may change significantly after this December meeting. (Previously, we were too involved in trying to get Kerry elected to spend too much time on figuring out how to structure our groups.)
Another site you may want to check out is
http://www.energizethebase.com. There was a "Maryland Progressive Summit" back in October (complete with Bushies picketing outside!), and the agenda and handouts are available on the site. There's also a place to sign up to be notified about the next such summit, which I believe is being planned for January.
