I'm seeing waaaaaaay too many Steele and Ehrlich signs in places they ....
.... shouldn't be.

Like in Columbia and Ellicott City. In Catonsville. In Laurel. In Elkridge.

Lots of signs for Merdon (R in the HoCo Exec race).

The Ehrlich and Steele signs tend to be huge. Like 4' x 8' or more. On wooden frames with wind braces. Very permanent looking.

Very few Cardin or O'Malley, but enough Ulman (D for HoCo exec).

1. Don't forget
that Laurel is a recent home of a Klan congregation ( :) ) and the location where George Corley Wallace was speaking to a large crowd when he was shot. I don't see why that surprises you.

10. I wouldn't panic...
If the local GOP nazi's here are any indication, I would say there's probably a ratio of about 1 bushbot voter for every 200 Steel/Ehrlich signs. I was out running errands all day about a week ago, and I kept seeing the big wig at the local GOP HQ, and his minions, out puting up signs in every crevis, nook, hole, and crannie they could find. They were even taking I'de say... 12ft long 4x4 treated posts and lag bolting one monstrousious Steel sign after another on top of each other... And then digging holes halfway to China to hold their 200lb contraptions up. Looks like pure desperation to me :)

3. my office is in Ellicott City
these are huge billboards put up by developers and Republican types. Signs do not equal votes.

6. I actually live in MoCo
so I pay more attention their. However, I think both candidates are strong. Growth is really the top issue. Whoever defines themselves as most likely to control growth will likely win. The success of O'Malley in Howard is important. If he does well there, it will help the top of the ticket. We got trounced in Howard in 2002, but won it in 98.

5. I phone banked for 3 hours tonight for O'Malley.
We're trying hard to get signs out. If you need one call campaign HQ's, we'll deliver them.

7. Per a Baltimore Sun Report on Ehrlich's Web Site
They saturated the state with 25,000 signs of all size. Here is the link if you wish to read the report: http://www.bobehrlich.com/news/Read.aspx?ID=128.

Prominent local developers with properties in all the areas you refer to (and beyond) are rabid Republicans and have the behemoth Ehrlich signs prominently displayed on their properties.

Many of the Ehrlich Catonsville signs have been taken down, there were more than there are today. I originally thought that the repeated vandalism that was occurring (the Ehr was replaced with red spray paint to say Ass)had frustrated people into removing the signs. Then I heard that there were complaints and after a complaint is filed the property owner has 30 days to remove the sign. I am not certain, and I can find no information to confirm, but I don't think the giant signs are legit in residential areas, at lease in Balt. Co., and that is why some have come down. I think this is why the large O'Malley signs have come down and been replaced with multiple small signs.
