New set of polls 10/18
Edited on Wed Oct-18-06 06:42 PM by nickshepDEM
Governor
O'Malley - 49%
Ehrlich - 43%
Boyd (G) - 3%
Driscol (P) - 1%
Undecided - 4%

Steady as she goes...

US Senate
Cardin - 46%
Steele - 46%
Zeese - 3%
Undecided - 4%

Senate race suprised me. I seriously thought this race was going to start inching more towards Cardin and eventually become out of reach for Steele. Guess I was wrong.

1. shit.
I expected Cardin to have a bigger lead than O'Malley. I'm shocked that the poll has them even.

3. Survey USA is an independent pollster with a
pretty damn good track record in Maryland. They nailed the 2002 KKT vs. Ehrlich race.

The poll was sponsored by WMAR-TV Baltimore and WUSA.

4. Thanks for the info
I think that the Steele-Cardin race is very hard to predict; the same goes for the Ford-Corker race in Tennessee. I think race will play a big part in both states and that some people, both black and white, may change their minds at the last minute.

I really hope that Ford wins and that Steele loses, but Democrats could lose both races, which would be a shame for all Americans.

6. Don't worry
the other polls still show a 6-8 point lead for Cardin.

7. Steele seems to gear his
ads towards people that don't pay attention to news or politics. The up side to that is those same people rarely can be bothered to go to the polls and actually vote. The important thing is to get people to the polls specially dems and convince them to stick around if things are going wrong or return later. They need to fight for their right to vote if there is a replay of the primary problems.

8. This web site has a comparison chart
of all recent polling - Survey USA is very different than the rest. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2006/senate/md/maryland_senate_race-114.html#polls

I sincerely hope the others are right and Survey USA is mistaken.

9. The last SurveyUSA was an outer with Steele ahead 1% in Sept.
makes me want to question their method of selection of polling participants or maybe just denial on my part. Any chance Obama will campaign for Cardin, it would probably have a huge impact?

Mason-Dixon 09/22 - 09/26 625 LV 41 47 12 Cardin +6.0
Zogby Interactive* 09/19 - 09/25 39 52 9 Cardin +13.0
SurveyUSA 09/17 - 09/19 522 LV 48 47 2 Steele +1.0

10. Obama was here and appeared with Cardin
along with Hillary Clinton earlier this month (I think) in College Park. I am sure they will pull out all the stops if there is any indication of losing this seat.

13. wow...
that's backwards to me... I thought the governor's race would be more 50/50 and Cardin would destroy Steele. Where was this poll from?
