Early voting: Check in, fellow Marylanders!

Early voting began yesterday. Early voting sites will be open today, then Monday through Thursday

Yesterday, just a few hours after the polls opened, I cast my ballot. There were a few other voters about, but it was still morning. Perhaps at lunch time or in the evening things might have changed.

Maryland Democrats are doing a big get-out-the-vote effort. Yesterday we were at Metro stations and other locations to alert people to the early voting process, and today we'll be doing more of the same.

Information on voting, including early voting center locations, is available here:

http://www.elections.state.md.us/voting/early_voting.html

Complete list of early voting sites, with directions:

What's going on in your areas? Who's voting by mail or by early voting?

1. Voted yesterday along with the hubby and
my mom then went out to an early dinner. Probably got there around 3:30 and there were people there. Had to wait a couple minutes. :bounce: I ask if they had many come in to vote and they said it had been pretty steady all day. They were happily surprised. Avoided the area today since some Tea Potty idiots were going to go have a rally at the early voting site. Have to work on that *voter suppression thing and all.

*In Cecil County and a bunch of white people yelling and shouting carrying their anti-Obama/Dem signs might intimidate more than a few. Especially since a few of them were known to be Klan once upon a time though they say they aren't anymore.

2. Thank you for the on-the-ground report.

I had no idea about this. Here in the Full Monty County and of course in nearby PG County, we're so used to seeing the blue side of things. Appalling to think the TP and Klan will try to suppress turnout.

Here's the Voter Empowerment Hotline number, for reference purposes:

1-888-678-VOTE (8683)

Thanks for reporting, and thanks even more for getting in there so early. :hi:

3. Agreed. 'Visiting' in Mont'y county from Washington county,
where there appears to be NO Dem action, and dismayed to hear about goings-on in Cecil.

4. I voted on Friday - no problems
Everything inside the Bauer Community Center in Rockville looked to be running okay. Plenty of people voting, but hardly any wait.

The parking lot was filled with fairly aggressive MoCo firefighters advocating the proposed ambulance fee, which I oppose. The proponents say the costs will be borne by insurance companies. I think it will create an excuse for huge rate increases by health insurance companies (as if they needed an excuse).

6. Have to add a link to the
local coverage of the rally. Not sure if who ever wrote the heading was giving the Tea Party more credit than due or insulting them. If it was the photog then it was an insult. Unfortunately you have to pay read all of it online but you can see the title and picture.

7. I've been too busy to do early voting,
but I will be at the polls bright and early Tuesday morning! From what I've been seeing on the news this week the early turnout has been very positive, so this coming week will be the icing on the cake!!

4 more years, O'Malley!!!!

8. Voted last Thursday in College Park.
There was quite a crowd, since it was the last day to vote early.

9. I voted on October 24. Slow and steady turnout in B'more
Early voting seems slow to catch on. It was my first time voting early, and the process was no different. It is not the same excitement as voting with my neighbors on election day.
