Is everyone okay after Irene?

We're fortunate that our power is still on in Derwood. My daughter's power is out in Takoma Park, and so is her land-line phone.

PEPCO, as usual, is being incredibly evasive both to the media and on their web site, about how long it will take to restore power to those affected.

Wow, even a landline phone out - that's unusual. I hope she gets power and phone back on quickly. Wouldn't it be great if after this there could be a major "works" project to bury all those lines? One can dream, I guess.

2. Lost power some time in the dark of

early morning but got it back around 5-ish tonight. Happy it only took hours and not the days Delmarva said it might take. No real damage on my property and didn't lose any trees but some friends had trees fall on their houses but no one was injured. Glad it wasn't as bad as they called for originally. Would much rather be prepared for the worst and have it never happen. Sounds much worse elsewhere though and feel for all those people.
