Leggett to run for MoCo Exec
The Gazette ran a piece announcing the entry of Ike Leggett, former member of the County Council and former state Democratic Party chair. This should mean a competitive race.

1. I can't stand Leggett
1. he's a do-nothing Duncan rubber stamp

2. about 13 years ago he cast the deciding vote at a county Alcoholic Beverage Control board hearing that prevented us from getting a really bad beer & wine store closed. The place was constantly selling to minors and had 2 previous violations for it. These young punks were partying in the woods between our house and the b&w store. I couldn't let my little daughters even play in the yard. We put upa 6-foot fence. The punks peed on it, smashed bottles against it, and sat back there cursing and drinking, right in earshot of where my kids played.
I got up a petition to close the store and took it to the ABC board. The B&W storeowner hired one of the most vicious criminal defense attorneys in the county to defend his B&W license -- unprecedented in the county. Then he spread fliers around the community claiming I was a racist for wanting to close the B&W store. A complete bunch of lies. At the hearing I presented thank you letters from Jesse Jackson for volunteering for his presidential campaign back in the 80s, and pointed out that I neither knew nor cared what color the young drinkers behind our house were -- that nobody had the right to sell booze to minors who then peed, curse, littered and made our home unlivable. I ripped the defense attorney apart, by the way, and people asked me if I was an attorney.
Four ABC board members voted in my favor, four against, and then Leggett decided to believe the racism accusation (he's African American) and cast the deciding vote allowing the B&W store keep its license.
As a result we had to sell our house at a loss and move just so my kids could play outside and we could get away from this bullshit.
I will never forgive Leggett.

2. I don't know anything about your second issue
but Leggett has never been a rubber stamp for anyone. He's well respected by both camps in Montgomery Politics.
