1. I never take a 'blame the victim' stance, but
running at 11 PM along a dark, secluded path in a big city? That's just not street smart. I know men that won't do it.

2. I didn't want to
be the one to say that but I have to agree! What was she thinking?
Hell; I live in the 'burbs and I wouldn't run or walk, out here at that
time of night. I've become a real chicken shit, as I've gotten older. :P
She's either very brave or new to the area. I feel really bad for her.
Hopefully the college students near there will be more street smart!

3. Yup!
After all, God forbid the criminals should be forced change their behavior!

4. Criminals don't care!!!
He obviously took advantage of the situation! Maybe she's been
running at that time of night all along and he was stalking her.
Either way, women have to be more street smart. It's just a fact.
It sucks but that's the way it is!

5. It's a matter of self-preservation and common sense.
There will always be predators out there. It makes sense to take precautions to protect yourself. Most people have a sense of self-preservation and don't willingly put themselves in danger. Would you take a walk at 11 PM in a dimly-lit area with little foot traffic?

It would be nice if criminals would change their behavior, but that rarely happens, especially since there is no hope for rehabilitation in our current prison system.
