Ipswich -
Police arrested two individuals last Monday on charges of larceny for the theft of copper gutters worth thousands of dollars from Our Lady of Hope Church on Pineswamp Road.
Jason Freeman and Candi Turner of 286 Main St., Amesbury are being held on $1,000 cash bail. Freeman is being held in Middleton and Turner is at the Framingham State Prison for Women.
Police had been patrolling the area when a call was placed by someone at the church stating a man had been seen outside the building. When police arrived at about 1:30 a.m., they observed a dark colored van parked at the church with a female driver inside.
According to the police report, the caller had indicated noise coming from somewhere around the rectory. Police then found the suspect curled up inside the frame of one of the church’s basement windows wearing black clothing. In his possession were burglarious tools such as wire cutters.
