Last Wednesday evening members of the District 9 Out of Iraq Coalition met at Carson Beach in South Boston at G Street and Day Boulevard for a peace picnic and walk. Representative Stephen Lynch was invited to join with his constituents at the beach for a picnic supper but he was a no call, no show. He never even responded to our invitation. At the very least he could have at least answered us one way or the other. We deserved a reply to our invitation. No reply. None.
So we took our political signs, and walked up the hill to where Rep. Lynch lives to hold a candle light vigil in front of his house.

The South Boston Police Department was great. At one point I thought Rep. Lynch was going to attend because there were four policemen with cruisers. I figured they were there to protect him. The policemen escorted us up the steep hill of G Street, and blocked traffic so we could safely cross the streets as we walked through intersections. The 2 officers did stay posted on the stairs of Rep. Lynch's house, I guess in case anyone attempted to go to his door.
We stood on the sidewalk across from his residence with our signs and candles. The names of the Massachusetts soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice were read. A WWII veteran gave a short speech in their honor. A petition to Stephen Lynch was signed and was to be delivered to his office the next day.
