***PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE***
Legislative Committees Will Hold Public Hearing on Veterans Higher Education Benefits
Boston - The Committee on Veterans & Federal Affairs and the Committee on Higher Education will conduct a joint legislative hearing on three bills that propose expanding higher education benefits for Massachusetts veterans. Currently, eligible veterans in the Commonwealth may receive tuition waivers at state and community colleges. The bills being considered by the Committees would provide Massachusetts veterans with a 100% education benefit by waiving both tuition and fees at these schools. Such legislation would provide veterans with the same education benefits that Massachusetts National Guard members receive from the state.
The hearing is open to the public and all are welcome to testify. If you have experienced challenges in applying for or using the current state tuition waiver, are planning testifying at the hearing, or would like additional information, please contact the Veterans & Federal Affairs Committee at (617) 722-2877 or email sarah.keller-likins@state.ma.us .
