Once again, a news article critical of Der Slappinfuhrer Harrington has been disappeared from The Enterprise:

Cape Verdeans demand Brockton mayor to apologize (The Enterprise)
BROCKTON — Outraged members of the Cape Verdean community fed up with being called a source of crime in Brockton are demanding an apology from Mayor James E. Harrington for comments they say further denigrate them.(Thu, 11 Oct 2007 06:25:14 GMT)

BROCKTON Oct. 8, 2007 – A group concerned Cape Verdean-Americans from Brockton started a online petition last week, demanding Mayor James Harrighton to apologize for offensive comments that have enraged the Cape Verdean community in Brockton.

The group argues that Mr. Harrington “blatantly and publicly blamed the community for the crimes in Brockton in a live broadcasted mayoral debate on September 6, 2007. The comments were reported the following day by the Brockton Enterprise:

“He (Mr. Harrington) said he had addressed a group of Cape Verdean residents on the issue of crime. One person stood up and said to me, 'Well, why is it a Cape Verdean problem?’’’ he recalled. “I said, 'Because your kids are killing each other, that's why.'…” Brockton Enterprise, September 7, 2007”

The petitioners elaborated that “Mr. Harrington had made the same comments to a group of Cape Verdeans during a Catholic mass at Saint Edith Stein Church weeks before, where he was criticized on the spot by concerned members of our community...”

<snip>

Not at all! Moises actually is against the petition and defends Harrington's remarks.
Also from following this forum I can tell that the audience here is misinformed regarding Moises' popularity in the Cape Verdean community. He was respected before the community found out that he "sold" their vote to Harrington in exchange for a nice position at the city hall and a nice fat paycheck a year. But he lost the respect of his fellow country folks starting last year and right now he's very unpopular among them. Many Cape Verdeans like Jass and were really piss off at Moises after all the negative comments he made about Jass' sexuality. Actually, the subject have extended back to Cape Verde; The local newspapers and online news portal there wrote negative articles about Moises and his Mayor. Yesterday there were 2 articles in Liberal-Online a popular CV online portal from Cape Verde condemning Moises remarks against Jass and Harrington's comments:

-SITUAÇÃO POLÍTICA EM BROCKTON (EUA) DIVIDE COMUNIDADE CABO-VERDIANA http://www.liberal-caboverde.com/noticia.asp?idEdicao=64&id=16044&idSeccao=522&Action=noticia

-CABO-VERDIANOS DA COMUNIDADE DE BROCKTON FAZEM NOTICIA NOS EUA

Moises is like the George Bush of the Cape Verdean community now. He's approval rate is really low and many people are really piss off at him for all the missteps he's done lately. Right now, it hurts Harrington showing up in the Cape Verdean community by Moises. Harrington would be smart to separate himself from Moises' actions like some Republican hopeful presidential candidates are wisely doing right now by distancing themselves from Bush to avoid too much negativity around them.
