The Dedham Choral Society's New England Premier of "The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace" was held at NE Conservatory's Jordan Hall to benefit the organization, 'Homes for Our Troops'.

The audience was treated to an absolutely fabulous performance of the talented Dedham Choral Society. The program opened with prayers for peace from Christian, Islamic, and Jewish religions. Their voices just blew the audience away, unbelievably beautiful.

As they sang and the orchestra played, a silent film was shown on two large screens on each side of the stage. The film consisted of actual military footage from various countries. It started with the build up to war with the leaders giving speeches and the factory workers building tanks and bombs. At times you were forced to look away from the screen due to the horrific bloody battle pictures. Rows of white crosses were shown in cemeteries. Rebuilding of war torn cities and then the parades of returning soldiers, all in all was a very somber experience.

In the lobby of Jordan Hall, the organization for Homes for Our Troops set out a information table with CD's, brochures, magnets, and lapel pins.
