Lawyer: 'Rockefeller' thought girl was telepathic
Source: Associated Press

BOSTON (AP) — A man who calls himself Clark Rockefeller believed he was communicating telepathically with his daughter and she was telling him she needed to be rescued, a defense attorney told jurors Thursday to begin his kidnapping trial.

Attorney Jeffrey Denner set up an insanity defense by telling the jury during opening statements that the defendant, whose real name is Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, suffered from two mental illnesses and didn't know it was wrong to snatch his 7-year-old daughter off the streets of Boston during a supervised visit last July.

Gerhartsreiter was "pushed over the edge" when he lost custody of his daughter in 2007, Denner said.

"He believed that on a moral level ... he had to do this to save his daughter," Denner said.

2. A Likely Story---NOT
I'd suspect such a defense would end all visitations. After all, would you send a kid off with an insane parent?

3. crazy, or not it could have been on a subconscious level & he
took it for "telepathhy". I would thoroughly investigate his life & then judge him. There are many things that European Christianity has sliced off, other people do not separate their dreams from their waking life: crazy? Strange, but...Did anyone hear that an explorer went hinting for the Tibetian version of 'Big Foot' & he was upset when the people told him they saw the creature in their dreamlife. But I think there MUST be SOMETHING if the Great Lakes 'Monster' was drawn by Native Americans before Columbus, & then over in Scotland there it is again: the same shape. Don't even get me started about the 'Faery Flag' that certain Scots took with them during WW2, PLUS that flag is proof their great, great, great grandmother was a faery woman. But the Scottish haven't quite ever gotten rid of their very ancient beliefs, wat with 'the sight' & all.....
