I hope the democrats understand what is going on in MA

First, let me state that I am voting for Coakley.

I hope the democrats take the correct lesson from this because Massachusetts has not become less liberal. Although people do seem to be more angry....and justified or not (and I believe SOME of it is justified, some not entirely fair), the democrats can't turn away from things that are important to their base and not expect consequences.

I hope this serves as a wake up call for the dems for the fall elections. Don't take your base for granted. One because it is stupid politically. And, two because it is just plain wrong.

1. They won't

There's an army of highly paid DLC stooges that will hit the talk shows to call her too liberal, win or lose.

2. That would be a mistake, if that happens. I still think she will win

I keep telling people that if she is bad as she thinks she will be, I will join them in primarying her in the next race.

Give her one term. This is MA and we can organize her out next go around, we just need to stay on it. That actually has worked on a couple people to get them to vote for her because they know I will hold up my end of the bargain.

3. "Don't take your base for granted."
That's what this comes down to for me. I'm a little tired of hearing people on the "big boards" here whine about how stupid Massachusetts people would be for letting this happen and I'm tired of being called, derogatorily, a Massachusetts liberal the rest of the year.

7. Fuck off

So - how are your TWO FUCKING REPUBLICAN SENATORS working for you? And you have the fucking gall to insult Massachusetts voters for the mere hint that we might - after 30 fucking years - elect a Repug? Screw you.

6. I worry about cities like Lynn that voted overwhelmingly for Obama but
just elected its first republican mayor. Lynn has a base of hardcore, angry, blue collar voters. You cannot sweet talk them. Dems have to say something like "the republicans fucked you for eight years. FUCKED you. Here's how: bla bla bla". Otherwise, once they make a decision against someone for some reason, it sticks and they go the other way. Hardcore. Pissed. Unmovable. Unless you whack them in the head.
