Where do you find the best prices on appliances?

I am familiar with stores in my area but a family member new to the state will be buying new kitchen appliances. I have no idea where to suggest she look other than the Home Depot, Lowe's stores.

1. A friend just outfitted his new home

with Sears appliances. He got a good deal outfitting his kitchen and laundry room. There used to be local discount retailers, but since Lowe's and Home Depot have come around the little guy is gone, and the big chains seem to be the way to go.

2. Lowes donates to Democrats. Home Depot donates to Republicans. n/t

3. Try googling and comparing. Saves gas money and you will get a good idea..

Also, I'm sure you know about the federal energy waster appliance program that is similar to the clunker program? Plus, Massachusetts often has a sales tax holiday during the summer, making that a good time to buy high ticket items.
