WORCESTER, Mass. (Map, News) -
Massachusetts Republicans rallied around Charles Baker as their gubernatorial candidate on Saturday, denying rival Christy Mihos the votes he needed to appear on the party's September primary ballot.
The move showed a party further united in the aftermath of Republican Scott Brown's upset U.S. Senate win in January. It also cleared the way for Baker to be the GOP's unchallenged candidate in a general election that could knock off President Barack Obama's good friend, Democratic Gov. Deval Patrick.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massachusetts_gubernatorial_election,_2010To be brutally honest, Deval Patrick is an appealing human being, IMO, but has not bewen a popular Governor. No other Democrat seems to have a realistic shot, though. So, I'll vote for Patrick in the primary, even though I wish we had a better field.
Again, the Republicans will be fired up. Democrats have to be fired up, too, or it will be Brown Coakley deja vu all over again--and Massachusetts has had no troube whatever voting for Republicans for Governor, even in its most liberal heyday.
