Deval Patrick Interview, Why Can't He Admit He's in Trouble?
I voted for him in 2006, but he is directly asked here how on earth someone who voted for Scott Brown would support him, and he dodges the issue multiple times.

4. Coakley history seems to be repeating itself. When he first ran, Patrick
had lots of advantages.

One, he had members of Barack Obama's campaign team, starting with Axelrod.

Two, no incumbent was running.

Three, all Democrats running in 2006 could run against the Bush Horrors, the stench of which was great enough to cling to all Republicans.

And, let's admit it, Massachusetts loves identity politics, in a good way of putting a thumb on the scale to make up for potential discrimination.

Without those advantages, would Patrick have won in 2006?

And then, he starts his term with the most expensive and extensive inauguration festivities in Massachusetts history, reinforcing the idea that Democrats are "spend and tax" folk. Yes, I know a lot of private money went into those festivities. But still, the first Democratic Governor in 16 years blew an opportunity.

Imagine if he got in and said, "We are scaling back greatly on the typical inaugural celebrations. The United States is currently involved in two wars abroad and Massachusetts residents are fighting in both. A lavish celebration is not appropriate at this time. I've asked those who wanted to contribute to the Inauguration festivities to contribute instead to a fund for the disabled Massachusetts veterans of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the families of those who were killed in those wars." Good grief, even rank and file Republicans in the state would have put him on their shoulders and liberals would have loved him for it, too.

Then, he followed up with drapesgate, limogate and wife's assistantgate. By that time, any goodwill he had when he won had faded. And he has not done a great job publicizing his wins while in office. And, during this campaign, his campaign is nowhere to be seen, not from him and not from the DNC or the Massachusetts Democratic Party or from Democrats around the country. Meanwhile, the Republicans are all over this race like stench on carrion.

Between this and the Coakley debacle, all I can say is :wtf:

5. He has been doing work within the Democratic party.
At the last state convention, he was already seriously collecting names and email addresses. He came to my Democratic Town Committee meeting a few months ago and he's been showing up at various things, more than one in my not-so-big town. I've had several opportunities to go to campaign things, though I haven't done so. But you're right, is campaign has not exactly been seen publicly.

6. Charlie Baker seems to be invested with running negative ads
before taking the time to even introduce himself to the public.
