In a police report filed in court, cops say Amorello side-swiped a 1999 Saab and a 2005 Dodge Magnum on River Street in Haverhill and then fled the scene just before 2 a.m. on Saturday.
Police said when they caught up to Amorello in the parking lot of a former Dairy Queen, he had to be asked for his license and registration several times, while he muttered, “Come on.”
The officer who initially responded to the scene reported having seen Amorello crossing a street earlier and urinating on himself.
“Amorello appeared to be extremely intoxicated,” the report said.
Cops say Amorello latched onto the steering wheel when officers tried to take him out of his smashed up 1999 Ford Explorer, which had lost a wheel. Officers later pepper sprayed him to get Amorello out of the SUV.
Amorello was apparently so drunk, that police said they had to drag him to a cruiser with his knees scraping along the pavement, the report said. Cops later dragged him into the police station, where Amorello passed out during his booking, police said.
