Gov. Patrick visits three communities in Brockton area
BROCKTON —
Gov. Deval Patrick discussed local budgets, city crime and, of course, this endless winter during a visit to Brockton on Thursday that capped earlier stops in two local towns.
The governor began his day with state highway workers in Bridgewater, then visited students and teachers at West Bridgewater Middle-Senior High School, before joining supporters for coffee at Christo’s restaurant in Brockton.

“My point is that there’s still some big, hard issues in front of us,” Patrick said. “Big things. Even as all this snow melts – if it ever does – big things. But what we must be as a community is fearless about the big things.”
In an interview after the event, Patrick said he did not yet know whether local communities and businesses hit by the frequent snowstorms might receive federal disaster aid, as some did during flooding last March.

During his Brockton stop, Patrick declined to comment on the power plant proposed for the city’s south side, saying the plant’s fate would be up to the city, and that he had heard strong arguments on both sides.
