Scott Brown is doomed
Edited on Tue Apr-12-11 09:51 AM by Ian David
Scott Brown is doomed

Scott Brown has a lot going for him right now. He has a ton of money, a wave a good publicity surrounding his book, potential opponents are dropping out, and several polls saying he is all but invincible.

Despite all that, and regardless of which Democrat gets nominated to challenge him, I think that Scott Brown is going to have a very hard reelection, and probably lose.

What do Democrats (and this pundit) having going for them? MATH!!! And about 1,559,464 registered voters. Find out more after the jump.

All joking aside, I really do think that Senator Brown is in significant trouble for reelection, and that Democrats in Massachusetts and Washington should be much more confident about our chances. After having beers with half a dozen political folk and arguing this theory out a few times times, I figured I better write it down now so I can sound smart and contrarian before it is too late.

1. Doomed you say?
I dunno if he is doomed but I sure hope so! Why? Because he's dangerous for the common person, period. However, his personification to the common person (who knows squat about government) will still vote him in again as they did last time. And it's this contingency that's gotta be stopped. But by whom? Who the hell can beat this idiot? I'd love to see a Kennedy run. Damn. I miss Teddy so much. Joe could win, easy. As could Teddy's wife. But neither demonstrates a willingness to jump in. Whoever is our Democratic Party candidate had better be a strong candidate. And have fresh appeal to the common guy by looking damn good in a barn jacket and pickup truck!! All kidding aside, the Dems must chose a well known strong candidate. I'd bet that Martha Coakley would do well this time around but she would be sorely missed as our Attorney General. Another strong candidate would be Governor Patrick.

And, oh, BTW, I wouldn't bash Scott Brown for posing nude in Cosmopolitan's centerfold at the time he was a law student but I must admit that it truly looks quite unprofessional for a U.S. Senator in retrospect.

4. We might need to fight hard.........but Scott is defeatable

I hope voters in Mass realize that he has done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for the people of Mass since his election.........has actually HURT us with several Senate Votes.

We need to work at getting the word out in every congressional district.....Brown is not our friend, he's a self-serving greedy Republican with no principles other than to serve himself a big helping of Senate benefits, and get rich because of his time in the US Senate.

We can't help him from getting filthy rich, heck if we defeat him in 2012, he will be on Fox News permanently less than a month later. But he does NOTHING for the people of Massachusetts except get his face on the 6 o'clock local news every time we have a snow storm or something more tragic.

5. I hope to heaven he is doomed, but Boston media all seem to be shilling for him, big time
Esp. Channel 5, where, of course, Gail Huff worked.

Ed Harding, whom I usually like, beams every time Brown's name comes up, as though Brown were Ed Harding, Jr. Infuriating.
