If Romney Ran For Prez...
Would/Could he win Massachusetts?

<snip>

Former Democratic vice presidential nominee John Edwards is taking on poverty and showing off a new stump speech. Republican Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts has donated more than $250,000 to GOP causes, collecting political IOUs while planning visits to early voting states. Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana is hiring veteran operatives and talking up donors.

1. I rather doubt it
He's about as popular as a fart in an elevator, the cahpitbaggah!

2. I'm hearing he will not run for re-election in 2006....
....for fear of losing, and gaining the stigma of a loser, thus un-electable for national office.

Watch, him to be appointed to *'s cabinet or some high-profile ambassadorship.

3. I doubt the national repub party would want him to run for president
They may have some use for him elsewhere, and they'll use him and throw him out. They won't want him as their pres candidate because: a) he's an outsider, and b) he's not their kind of Christian (ie Protestant)--he's a Mormon, and the good old boys probably have their suspicions about them.

4. I Didn't Think So
It is hard to swing 30-35% of a state into your corner.

5. Plus, what would he run ON?
Has he accomplished anything at all during his time occupying the corner office?

About all I can remember was the time state revenue had risen a bit, for the first time in who knows how long, and Romney immediately started squawking about a tax cut.

It was during the presidential campaign, and was obviously meant to blow a kiss toward Dubya, but it was so ludicrous and such an obvious, transparent ploy at that just about nobody paid attention.
