Just Got back from the Support Cindy Vigil in Lowell
There were about 60-70 people who showed up. I went with my husband and we talked for a while with the lady from Lowell Peace & Justice forum. She handed out buttons that said "Talk to Cindy' and another volunteer handed out some candles she had brought.

We were informed that we didn't have a permit so we couldn't all assemble on the Green next to Lowell City Hall, but we could stay if we just kept the group moving. So, after a moment of silence in honor of Casey Sheehan and all the other people killed in Iraq (American and Iraqi) we slowly marched around the triangular green in an orderly, respectful and mostly quiet grouping.

We got quite a few cars to honk in support! We stayed for about 45 minutes and then had to go.

It was a nice night. We had older people come, a few families with little kids and a range of just regular folks who had shown up to show they care. A nice event, and a nice way to show support.

3. I was there too!
I wish I'd realized you were going to be there. I was the gal in the black jersey wearing the beige Boston Folk Festival baseball cap.

4. I was the lady with the guy in the Red Sox shirt
Cuz you can't have a public event in greater New England without at least one person showing up in a Red Sox shirt. (LOL!)

I'm so sorry we didn't connect before hand. But I think there will be more of these. And I loved the buttons. Now, I need to work on the digital pics. I will have them up tomorrow. Maybe you'll be in one! (Crowd shots, shots of the big banner that the older ladies brought, shots of the lady with the baby carriage and the mother with her two kids and so forth. Just a snapshot of America, asking for some respect and for some accountability.)

5. I was there too.
Went with my kids, my friend and her daughter, and we met my husband there. It was nice. Some folks had trouble with keeping their candles lit, because we had to walk, but it was a great night, and we met some nice people.

7. thanks for posting this.
It was a first time protest for my daughters, and I think they'll enjoy the pictures.
Now that they've been broken in, what with the Lowell Police not letting us stand still, I think it may be on to Washington in September for my future activists!
