Got back a short while ago
from Cindy's vigil in Marlboro, Massachusetts. I wrote a brief blog entry about it containing some impressions.

1. Thanks for sharing that. I missed the vigil here in town yesterday
and we tend to get a very small turnout on in any event. (Fear not, I have a candle in my window tonight.) It is so heartening to hear stories of liberals, humanitarian or just antiwar protesters coming together for this great cause.

2. Sounds a lot like my experience tonight
about the same number of people and all the response from passers-by was positive. Quite a few of us were late political bloomers, but we're trying to make up for it with fire and devotion.

Like your blog photo "They're coming to get you Barbara."

3. Great writeup!
I myself just got back from the vigil in Bolton. ...right around 20 of us and much like your report, the majority of this crowd was mature adults; mostly those who remembered Vietnam.

In short time, there wasn't much silence. I think a lot of these folks felt like I did and were amazed and delighted to find so many others who actually cared. Conversations ranged across the board and yes, some outrage was expressed.

The response from traffic was 99% positive and some even stopped to join us!

I believe I was the only DU-er present but I plugged the community to just about everyone I spoke to.

It feels like the beginning of something bigger...

4. WOW!
Massachusetts is well represented here tonight - I've heard about the vigils in Ipswich, Lowell, Quincy, and now Marlborough. The Andover vigil had about 60 people and was great! It's a normal vigil for Andover as there is one there every night, but this was a huge turnout I guess!

THANKS!

5. I think...
...I was the only DU'er present, too, but that was inconsequential since we were all there for a much larger cause.

And, yes, part of the reason this was such an exciting event was that it felt as if this was the start of something big. The positive feedback certainly reinforced that.

6. I was surprised by the
people in Ipswich, but earlier when I checked for other locations Gloucester, Newburyport, and Essex all had quite a few reservations. It makes me feel hopeful.
