Guards at The Four Seasons Hotel failed to tell police they had scuffled with a scrawny 36-year-old man who later died at a nearby hospital, admitting the fracas only after investigators viewed a video of the confrontation, sources told the Herald.
``The security personnel indicated that the man `just collapsed,' '' said a law enforcement official. ``Detectives saw that he was physically restrained on the security tape.''
Regan Dillon, director of public relations for the hotel, said the guards cooperated from the start.
`The information you were given is absolutely incorrect . . . our security staff disclosed all details to the police upon their arrival at the hotel,'' she said.
The dead man was Anthony Giannone, 36, a South Boston newlywed who worked as a Teamster with Local 82 and was writing a screenplay with his brother, Jay, who is currently acting in the Martin Scorsese film, ``The Departed.''
