So, the other day I'm in a median turn lane trying to take a left across the highway. As I'm waiting for it to be clear, one of those 617-The-Ride vans pulls around to my right and blocks my view.
I pull forward to see around him, and he pulls forward and blocks my view again.
After a couple more times, I start signaling him to stop moving forward (gesturing backward with an open hand, like I'm using it to swim) and he still moves forward two more times.
So finally, I do something that may not have been my brightest move. I get out of my car and tell him (from a few feet away) that I can't see if he keeps moving forward.
He tells me, "You have your own lane, just go!"
I respond back, "I don't care. I'm not going to go if I can't see!"
As I'm getting back into my car, hear him call me a "fucking moron." And as I finally drive away, he cuts me off.
Anyway, I called the MBTA and they refereed me to someone who supervises the independent contractors who run the 617-The-Ride service. He took a complaint and forwarded it to the contractor company.
Today I got a call from the driver's supervisor, and he heard my version of the story, which varies
greatly from the driver's.
Interestingly, the driver
admitted using obscenity.
Even more shocking, is that the driver says he didn't call me a "fucking moron."
The driver told his boss he called me a
"Fucking Liberal!"Anyway, the supervisor told me that he's concerned about the obscenity no matter what the politics behind it.
Personally, I find it troubling that his words
and the actions that led to the exchange could have been at least partly motivated by his reaction to the politics of my bumper stickers.
In other words, did my bumper stickers influence
the way he drove, and not just the way he responded afterward.
