If anyone here on DU is licensed and insured and does:

1) Electrical contracting
2) Carpentry
3) Painting, wallpaper, etc.
4) Interior decorating
5) Carpeting and flooring
6) Home inspection

Please let me know.

I have a whole bunch of work to do, and I'd like to try and keep as much of the money "in the family" as possible.

If I don't hear from anyone in the DU family, I'll check the ads in Bay Windows tomorrow.

I'm already bothered that my current contractors are buying their supplies at Home Depot instead of Lowes. I'd like to keep as much of my insurance claim money out of GOP hands as possible.

Thanks!

1. I would be bothered that bought ANYTHING at HD
Home Depot has the CRAPPIEST stuff. If you are referring to grout and caulking and nails, OK. But PLEASE do not use their lumber, bathroom or kitchen fixtures, etc. If you are renovating, people KNOW a Home Depot kitchen from a quality kitchen. We renovated our home in JP a few years ago and I can give you lists of really good suppliers for the good stuff.

What town are you in? I think you are south of the city, yes?

2. They bought the fiberglass insulation there
I'm planning to do all my shopping at "Blue" companies:

Jordan's Furniture
Ikea
COSTCO

For better or worse, my crappy kitchen cabinets that came with the house seem to have survived, so we won't be replacing those.

We won't be doing any "fixed" installations of cabinetry that will stay with the house after we leave.

We're looking mostly at carpentry, electricity, carpet, possibly a laminate flooring, wallpaper, painting, etc.

We've already committed to someone else to do the ceiling and to install a computer network (running Monster-cable to each room).

We had Ikea-style furniture before our flood, and we'll probably be Ikea-to-the-gills going forward. But we need a competent person to measure and suggest and deliver and assemble.

Now that I am out of "crisis-mode," I can hopefully make some more thought-out decisions about who I hire to do what.
