Karl Rove Protests this Saturday the 24th in Jackson & W. Bloomfield
Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 12:31 PM by meganmonkey
I got these forwarded to my email - I don't know any more about it than what is in this email. I won't be able to make it but just in case some folks are in the area and interested....

JACKSON:

Carl Rove will be appearing at a Republican Party fundraiser in
Jackson, MI on 03/24/07. Come join a peaceful protest against the
administration's war policies. Meet at 12:30, outside Daryl's
Downtown restaurant, downtown Jackson, on W. Michigan Ave. Bring
yourself, your friends, and protest signs to send your message to end
the war NOW.

WEST BLOOMFIELD:

Karl Rove Protest

Dear Friends:

One of our MoveOn Council members, Doris Appleton, asked me to pass this information along:

Karl Rove, Bush Administration Deputy Chief of Staff, will be guest speaker at the local Republicans "Lincoln Day Dinner" to be held at the Shenandoah Country Club, 5600 Walnut Lake Rd., West Bloomfield this Saturday March 24th. Needless to say... Rove has been the "mastermind" behind many of the dirty schemes going on in Washington.

You are invited to meet with a group to rally and protest against Karl Rove and everything he stands for. The protest group will be meeting at 4:30 this Saturday at the southwest corner of Drake & Walnut Lake Rd.

From there they will organize and proceed to the Lincoln Day Dinner.

1. It made the local news...
It was on channel 4 at 6pm. Didn't get an idea of how many people showed up...but I'm glad people got out and let their voices be heard against TurdBlossom

2. We had about 80 people in West Bloomfield
Looked like they didn't have a great turnout for the dinner. We got lots of people honking, giving us a thumbs up, waving, etc.

3. I thought it was kinda nice of all the Black attendees of the GOP dinner to all sit at one table
I was flipping channels between newscasts on Saturday night at 11. It was either 4 or 7.

We all know that you can't have a GOP function without a Black person strategically placed here and there in the background. Well, the Oakland County GOP did themselves proud! That table may have been next to the kitchen, but who cares?

The newscamera panned the crowd, obviously from the rear. These folks were seated at the table just to the right of the camera.

Pardon me for using the word 'crowd' loosely.

5. How much did security for these events cost and was the GOP billed
for it?

We should make sure that their fundraiser pays for their own security. This was a political event, not a state event.
