Guantanamo and the Threat to the Rule of Law - 5/20/07
GUANTANAMO AND THE THREAT TO THE RULE OF LAW

SPEAKER: BILL GOODMAN
Former Director, Center for Constitutional Rights

In February 2002, one month after the first detainees arrived at Guantánamo, CCR filed the first challenge to the Bush administration's attempt to create an offshore penal colony outside the rule of law.

However, the Bush administration has twice ignored the Supreme Court, and continues to hold these men outside of the law.Since its opening Guantánamo was clearly illegal. Now, in 2007, Guantánamo has become an intelligence and national security failure, a moral stain on our nation, and a corrupt symbol that cannot continue.

Join the Huntington Woods Peace Citizenship and Education Project & The Workmen’s Circle/Arbeter Ring for an interesting and informative conversation regarding what is being done to uphold the rule of law
