Jimmy Massey Tour, Detroit Oct 22 and 23, Ann Arbor Oct 24
Jimmy Massey, former Marine Recruiter, Boot Camp Instructor, and Staff Sargent Platoon Leader in the Iraq invasion, tells it like it really is. He will be speaking on the military recruitment machine and service in a time of endless war: the facts from a veteran of both the Iraq War and the recruiting business.

Jimmy will speak Monday, October 22nd, 7 to 8:30p.m. at St. Peter's Church in Detroit on the corner of Michigan and Trumbull. Also speaking: Deb Regal of Military Families Speak Out and Bill Wiley Kellerman, pastor of St. Peter's Church.

He will be speaking Tuesday, October 23rd, at Wayne State University at 4p.m., spomsored by Students for a Democratic Society.

Michigan Peaceworks is sponsoring a talk in Ann Arbor on the 24th.

2. How was it?
I heard him speak a couple of years ago at a Unitarian Church here in New London. Back then, he was freshly out of the service, didn't have his message well rehearsed, and rambled a bit. And yet that made his talk all the more powerful. It was clear to us in the audience that he was overwhelmed by his experiences, trying to make sense of something that fundamentally made no sense.

3. Hi, there.
He was great. I booked him in another high school during the day on Tuesday, one with a lot of recruiter action, but then I was jealous that he didn't come speak to our kids at my school, because I knew they would have loved him. I've got about 4 hour of video of him I think that one of our folks shot while he was talking at different places, and some while they were just driving around - I need to capture it, and either the guy that shot it or I will edit it into something that maybe eventually I can post here.
