I got a fundraising call today from the DNC. I told them where to put it.
I went off on the poor woman, I was so mad. She started in about how important this race is, and I cut her off, saying it's probably already been lost because of Florida and Michigan. I told her how bad it is in Michigan and how the Dems aren't campaigning, aren't fundraising, have no infrastructure in the state for the GE. When she said that they appreciated and understood that but still needed my help, I said that they're not getting a dime if they won't count my vote. Oh, my vote wasn't worth fighting for, but they want my money? Hell no to that! No way!

As much as I love Dr. Dean, he needs to get his ass to Michigan and apologize for disenfranchising us. He needs to get the candidates to do a debate here now that the primary's over. He needs to fix this so we don't swing red. And he's not getting my money until he does.

1. Good Points!
Nobody cares about us, really. We can just eat worms and die. Or fight back on the local level, without any help from the Feds. But that means a thorough housecleaning, including our Senators in DC. Dingell and Levin were behind this primary grab, and they ought to suffer the consequences.

3. I'm all for a housecleaning.
I wish I knew how to really make it happen. Boy howdy, is it time to get the skunks out of there.

2. Amen to that. Don't need my vote, don't need my money. Case closed.

4. Hear, hear. The DNC poisoned the well in this state and had better start digging a new one fast if
they expect this so important electoral state to vote DEM come Novemmber.

5. The DLC Started It--the DNC Was Merely Enforcing the Rules
Blame Granholm, Brewer, Dingell, Levin and Hillary if you are wanting a target.

7. I know very well whom to blame however, the facts on the ground remain...
This state has been badly damaged for any DEM presidential candidate come next Nov.

It is way beyond 'blame'...it now is "how do we fix it".

8. That's the Truth
The GOP candidates were shamelessly trying to recruit Democrats! I had robocalls from McCain, Lieberman and Huckabee--some nerve, huh?

Of course, I'm of the opinion that robocalls do more damage than help.

9. That's exactly right--it's time to fix it.
I know the DLC started it, but it's time to get beyond who started the whole mess and how the MIGOP compounded the problem. It's time for Dr. Dean to come in, explain and apologize, and get the GE machinery up and running.

10. What about the Republicans?
The law passed both houses of the state Congress. It would've taken the Republicans to help pass it through the Senate, and that was during the massive budget crap. With the Republicans getting a better deal and therefore winning the game of chicken, what incentive did Mike Bishop have to get a law through taking back the move-up date for the primary?

I think we were all fooled. I think Levin and Dingell thought it was a good idea but then the MIGOP figured out how to screw us over with it.

11. The Michigan GOP Is ALWAYS Up to No Good, By Definition
Doesn't mean the DLC should collude with them to screw us all.

12. It also means that the DNC should've known that 30 day window wouldn't work.
I'm just sayin' . . .

6. Glad I don't have a land line
Not they care much about my pissy little $25-$50 anyway. Wouldn't even buy me a Cheez-It at one of Hillary's or Obama's swanky Wall Street fundraising dinners.

13. I Expect the DNC Is a Bit Gun-Shy, At This Point
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 09:53 AM by Demeter
If it becomes more clear that we have a consensus candidate, then the good doctor may be able to start putting out the fires left behind by the primaries. But for now, everybody's keeping an eye on the ball, trying to minimize the carnage and fallout.

14. The term "consensus candidate" irritates me. Whose "consensus"?
Michigan and Florida, BOTH 'swing' states, are told to Eat Shit And Die in forming that "consensus." Michigan, the most economically depressed state in the nation, and Detroit, the most economically depressed MSA in the nation, received NOT A SINGLE PENNY of campaign spending (with the SINGLE exception of Kucinich) in return for the ill-afforded contributions of this state's and area's left-wing contributors.

15. I Know, I'm in Ann Arbor
As far as consensus goes, I'd want those 45% Uncommitted delegates to be the deciders.

17. I donated double my usual amount.
I DETEST Hillary's ploy to stay on the ballot
when the other serious contenders honored their
pledge to not participate....BUT

I will support the nominee, whatever it takes,
and the DNC will need money to run campaigns
in Michigan and ALL 50 STATES.
