Nancy Skinner WINS DFA Grassroots All-Star contest!
Here's the e-mail that went out from Jim Dean:

Dear Sharon,

You did it! Ninety-Eight candidates running for the U.S. House of Representatives competed for your support and the 2008 DFA Grassroots All-Star endorsement. In total, you cast over 51,500 votes. Today, I am proud to announce your winner:

Nancy Skinner is the 2008 DFA Grassroots All-Star!

Please contribute $25 right now and support our winner.

Nancy is a fighter. In 2006, Nancy's people-powered campaign was ignored by national Democrats, but not by DFA members. We knocked on doors, made phone calls and recruited volunteers to get out the vote in this so-called "safe" Republican district. Nancy spent $400,000 while her opponent, Bush-Republican Joe Knollenberg, spent over $2.6 million. On Election Day, Nancy forced the Republicans to their tightest victory in decades by receiving over 46% of the vote.

Michigan Republicans aren't going to sit this election out. And Rep. Knollenberg, a seven term incumbent Republican, already raised over 1.4 million in 2007 to protect his seat.

Contribute $25 today and together, we'll give Nancy the resources she needs to win:

Nancy stands for progressive values. She has a plan to turn Michigan's auto industry green. This will expand and rebuild our national economy and Michigan's industry base. We can reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and foreign oil while improving the global environment. Nancy knows that if Congress is going to get serious in our fight to end global warming, we need a representative from Detroit leading the way.

Nancy will fight for health care for everyone. She proudly supports expanding the State Children's Health Insurance Plan to cover 10 million American kids. Her opponent voted with President Bush and supported his veto of the plan.

Nancy will fight to end the War in Iraq and bring our troops home. Her opponent voted for the authorization and has rushed to support President Bush's reckless war at every step of the way.

Nancy will win, but not without your support. Please contribute $25 right now to make change happen.

Thank you for putting your contribution into action.

-Jim

1. Yeah buddy.
OK Bruce, bring it on. Bring on your snide comments about how "meaningless" you think this is. Bring on all the pointless crap you spew about Nancy. Come on Bruce, hurts don't it? DFA is a big deal. This is HUGE.

I could gloat at how low Peters polled, but I won't. And "oversight" IS NOT good enough an answer to a question I have asked you repeatedly for months.

Go Nance, go Nance. The grass roots will win this election.

2. We'll see how it turns out

I still predict that Nancy will slink away eventually. Peters did very well in the polling. Out of 95 candidates, Gary came in 5th without the help of Nancy's radio friends, who did not offer Gary time on the radio speaking to the progressive audience. I wonder how it would have turned out if Gary had the same opportunity to speak to the same audience.

3. Thought you might find this interesting
Here's Gary report

Here's Nancy's Report

I don't know about you, but it looks like Nancy's report is a bit slim and there's lots of people that can give more to Gary's campaign.

6. And interestingly
most of the people that "voted" for Nancy for the DFA, DO NOT live in the 9th Congressional District of Michigan. So the votes she got DO NOT count in August. The ONLY reason she won was her relationships with the radio people that let her on the air to plead her case and the fact that she LIED about Gary's record and tried to paint him as an "establishment" "backroom" candidate. ALL LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! None of the radio personalities invited Gary on their shows to speak to their listeners.

Gary has lived in the district his entire life, unlike Nancy who spent a considerable time in Chicago. Gary has actually passed legislation and knows how, unlike Nancy.

Gary has actually been elected to office, unlike Nancy.
Gary has won the Sierra Club environmentalist of the year, unlike Nancy
Gary has the support of almost every politician in the state and district, and if major unions behind him.

I'll take Gary over Nancy any day.

Mr. Expert says that DFA doesn't matter because it is nationwide. He says black is white, the sky is borwn, etc. and whatever.

9. Donations have actually leveled off
at $8700 and are likely to decline, now that the initial shot in the arm has been experience.

10. :) Welcome to the Internet
"Mr. Expert says that DFA doesn't matter because it is nationwide. He says black is white, the sky is borwn, etc. and whatever."

And who exactly is going to donate to Nancy now? The 675,000 made up e-mails her campaign manager put in a bot?

Grow up. Support labor. Not robots.

11. Grow up. Be fair, don't support mudslingers like Bruce.
Are you Butch's assistant Weim from the Little Rascals? Every bully needs an assistant, because bullies are weak in mind, body and spirit.

12. How do you consider me a bully?
When all I've done is point out facts. The fact is Nancy is a non-factor. From here on out, I'm going to ignore her, which is the status she deserves. She isn't worth all the attention. She raised $6700 and that makes her irrelevant.

13. Oh, so all your efforts on this and other boards...
Edited on Sun Feb-10-08 07:47 PM by maddogesq
will stop? That's just the point. Bullies start stuff, time after time. And your "facts" are more often stuff that is innuendo, or things you take out of context, much like Republicans do. If Nancy is a "non-factor," then why thread after thread? If you think she will just go away, you are wrong...dead wrong. And I will not go away either, unless you do what you say and stop these threads.

OK, so fund raising is a big deal to you. Most of us that believe in democracy say it's the votes that count. We will see you in August, then? I will take you at your word that you will no longer do this and "ignore" Nancy then?

Shall we call a truce and see how the debate goes on Wednesday? My guess is you can't wait that long. Something deep down inside drives you to Skinner bashing. It's an addiction you have had for two years now.

14. She will self destruct
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 06:38 AM by bfealk
The facts are there. I feel comfortable with everything I've said about Nancy is the truth. You will find that out in time that Nancy is not the person you believe her to be. It will become self evident, even to you. Nancy has a very small group of very loyal supporters, as evidenced by you and the others that beat up on me for telling the truth about her. I respect your misplaced loyalty, but in the end truth will prevail. Even her winning the DFA All-Star contest has been a short-lived boost for her campaign.

She will not be on the ballot in August, unless she is prepared to put herself in a financially precarious position and borrow tens of thousands of dollars or even hundreds of thousands of dollars to try to stay competitive. I don't think even Nancy will do that. She did loan her campaign $15,000 last time, but it will take a lot more than that this time around. Nancy knows all this and eventually the light bulb will go on and she'll see the light.

I hope when all is said and done you will come out and enthusiastically support Gary and put a Democrat in Knollenberg's seat.

See you Wednesday, Mark.

I will break my silence if Sharon or anyone else puts up something that needs to be responded to in order to put the truth out.

16. I like the Meyers intro page on the web site.
Very cool.

You are a vet too, I take it. I like to see vets getting involved in all this stuff, because they know the truth about the cost of war. I did not serve, but help my dad, a disabled and decorated vet of The Battle of the The Bulge.

Rock on buddy. Welcome to the Michigan board.
