1. You read my mind.
What's up with her? Glad Carl's name wasn't on the list of those voting the wrong way.

10. D.L.C.
She owes AT&T.

Or her group does, and its
her turn to take the fall.

:puke:

Not an anomaly for her, she
deserves a progressive challenger in her
next race.

4. I'm still ticked at her because of her vote on the...
bankruptsy bill. How anyone that calls them self a Democrat could vote for that piece of crap is beyond me. Sheesh!

5. Dagnabbit, Debbie! Stop listening to the DLC!
She was my state house rep growing up (long before term limits), and I met her then a few times. I hate to say it, but she's not the brightest bulb. I think she gets swayed by other powerful people and just goes along. She should've listened to Levin on this one.

22. She helps out her constituents through her office
Howard Wolpe did the same thing as a congressman from K-zoo. They run offices that help Michigan citizens cut through federal red tape. She's good at that.

Her vote did just the opposite.

Seriously. Where are our progressives? They're not in with the party powerful. We need to do more to build up our progressives.

13. I ask myself that at least once a week.
Look at what happened with the primary debacle. The GOP started that idea, and our party leadership was dumb enough to fall for it. Why don't the good ones make it up through the ranks? Most of the top leadership I've met I wouldn't trust to take care of my dog, let alone lead Michigan into the next fifty years.

12. Damn straight, we do!
But it's been frowned upon here.

The party doesn't want to spend money
defending incumbents in primary races.

Supporting Nancy Skinner is one way of
promoting a Progressive platform for our
state.

The DLC dummies up in Lansing need to go. The progressive soul of who we are needs to take root, even if it means ruffling a few feathers along the way.

Our state leaders forget what Mr. Truman said about those that act or vote like Republicans: They will lose to real Republicans, every damn time.

The 3rd way is now dead. Clinton had the right idea there for awhile, but it no longer works. It is time to choose who we are, and what we are about. If I do not see real change, I might even go Green. Wait, I am already a State fan...sorry Sharon, couldn't resist.

16. Give me a break
Gary Peters is just as progressive as Nancy Skinner, but he actually has the financial resources to win. A vote for Nancy is a vote to re-elect Joe Knollenberg.

18. It's not ABOUT Gary Peters...
it's about a rogue PARTY in this state.

FORCING early primaries against the rules of the DNC
and telling us to SHOVE IT!

Endorsing candidates like your Mr. Peters before others
have even DECLARED!

We're being RAILROADED in this state, and we're getting SICK OF IT.

Peters is not the problem, he is merely a SYMPTOM.

Sorry.

20. Gary is neither the problem or the symptom
That is a ridiculous statement. Gary is an experienced politician that has done admirable things in his time in public office. It's not fair to paint Gary Peters with that broad brush. Just because Gary got into the race before Nancy did and gathered support from the party, unions, elected officials can't be held against him. The reason the party got behind him is they want to win and Gary has actually won an election, has proven fund raising capabilities and has the best positions on the issues to win the general election against Joe Knollenberg, plain and simple.

21. They want to win. (But they'll LOSE with these tactics)
You SAID it!
And they don't care what or who the
people might want.

The type of spam support Peters got
from the MDP was OUTRAGEOUS so early
in the schedule.

But then again, that seems to be
a pattern here.

24. Stabenow's Fundraising
Stabenow through her federal giving history (since 1989), has taken $570,731 from the Communications sector which covers telcos. Of course this doesn't cover lobbyist fundraisers which show up as individual contributions.

So I don't think it is a matter of the money she receives. Seeing as a vast amount of her donations are "GOOD" individual donations.

She has a lot of explaining to do, I'm not only disappointed with her, I also just want to know, "What was she thinking?"

25. Apparently she doesn't even know what she just voted for
Remembering your interest . .

. . in the issue of warrantless wiretapping and domestic surveillance programs, I wanted to write to you with an update on recent Congressional action.

On February 12, I voted against the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Amendments Act. This legislation would have endorsed the Bush Administration's warrantless wiretapping program. I voted against similar legislation last year. I share your grave concerns about this program and its lack of oversight. This legislation also included full immunity for telecommunications companies that cooperated with the Administration's wiretapping program. Full immunity prevents these important constitutional issues from getting a hearing in the courts. Because of this, and because the legislation did not go far enough to protect the civil liberties of American citizens, I opposed the FISA bill.

The House of Representatives did not include immunity in its version of the bill, and President Bush has threatened a veto. As this issue continues to be debated in Congress, I will continue to fight for our civil liberties and to hold the Bush Administration accountable for its actions. As always, please don't hesitate to contact me if my office can be of assistance to you or your family.

Sincerely,

Debbie Stabenow

United States Senator

27. Clueless!
We go thru the motions in every election cycle, yet we forget. I have met Debbie. She seems OK in person, but I have never felt the vibe I feel with other office holders. I have never met Levin, yet he was right on this one.

I have met the woman I call Gov. Pretty Eyes several times. To the women on this board, I am so sorry for calling her that. Those eyes, however, are backed up by real brinas that are sometimes smart enough to know better. The one reason I think my opinion means more is that I was born here. She Is impressive, but she has screwed up too. If only she could sit down with me for an hour and talk shop.

As always, it comes back to what Pres. Truman said.

They occasionally send emails telling me that they are supporting progressive candidates for offices now held by "Bush" democrats.

Wish they'd run somebody against Debbie.
