save Michigan water from diversion
http://progressmichigan.org/page/speakout/greatlakes

Thirsty states and countries facing drought and water shortages want to take Michigan’s precious freshwater. Bottling corporations want to ship our Great Lakes out of state for profit. Sand & gravel operations want to drain our aquifers, while ethanol plants use water turning corn into their liquid gold – who is watching for the fish, the canoeist, and the Great Lakes itself?

And if that is not enough, some Michigan politicians are supporting proposals that would allow 22% to 40% of some of our inland rivers and streams to be available for export to thirsty states and nations! Maybe they don’t realize that our lakes, rivers and aquifers—our drinking water sources—are all connected in the Great Lakes system. Or maybe they care more about corporate lobbyists who want to profit from selling our water

1. Let Repugs get a little more power and watch
what happens to our water. Elect a Repug governor next time, or let Repugs take over the Michigan House and we will lose our most precious resource. The most profound statement I have heard on the subject? "People from Michigan moved out West and South for the weather, now they want to bring our water with them. You want the Great Lakes? Move back to Michigan."

2. We have to protect our water.
Our water is the lifeline of our state. We need to elect candidates who are willing to protect our state's greatest resource, and we can't accept anything less than a total commitment.
