Question for Michigan DUers
Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 07:14 PM by IrishBloodEngHeart
HOw significant of a role will the somewhat sizable muslim population play in a primary/caucus re-do?

I am curious because so much emphasis is placed on being "pro-Israel" in the primaries, but Michigan is the only state I can think of where there is a considerable muslim vote that is much bigger than the Jewish vote.

How will this play out? Any ideas?

Thanks

1. I am sure the Klassy Klinton Kampaign & the media would love to talk about
the muslim vote even more than they love talking about the black vote. While the later is focused on to trying to scare white people into Hillary's arms, the former is focused on trying to scare everyone into Hillary's arms. Unfortunately for them, 2% of the MI population is Muslim (and 1% is Jewish by the way) so it will be hard to get enough data to scare people with.

2. My GUESS: More democratic than last time, Obama by a little.

The church goers were strongly pushed Republican in 2000. Strongly for the war in Iraq.

The got burned, and they know that years later.

That weakens unifying potential. It's the same set of Imams(clergy).

Still, they could be pushed into a 60-40 disparity.

MY GUESS.

EDIT ADD: Obama versus Clinton is real question. Many women still live as house cooks and cleaners while the men work, yet there are very progressive feelings from both sexes. But, both choices as equal, I think the man would receive more votes.

3. Not sure of the percentage of these voters
But if I had to guess...their influence is not much in comparison to other voting blocks.
