Tim Bledsoe is running as a Democrat for State Representative in District 1 (Grosse Pointes, Harper Woods, Detroit). In 2006, Tim ran a competitive race against a well-funded incumbent, Ed Gaffney (a favorite of the health insurance industry lobby). Tim received 46% of the vote, the most of any Democrat ever in the First District running a citizen powered campaign. This year Ed Gaffney is term-limited, so this time Tim is running for an open seat, giving him an even better chance to win. The First District, traditionally a Republican stronghold, is now relatively evenly balanced between Democrats and Republicans. It provides a great opportunity for us to pickup a seat.
So if you're looking to get involved a race where you can really make an impact, a campaign not run by condescending and cynical party insiders where your contributions and input will be truly valued, I encourage you to join Tim's campaign. Tim has pledged to accept no PAC money for his race, so his success will be dependent on the contributions and volunteer efforts of ordinary citizens like you and me. In 2006, Tim demonstrated he can run a viable grassroots campaign against a well funded incumbent. In 2008, we can help him get over the top.
Tim has a common sense progressive agenda for Michigan. You can learn more about it at his informational video page

It sure will be nice to finally have ONE (he would be the first to not accept any PAC money) representative in Lansing not beholden to PAC's when Tim wins this November. Find out how you can help make that happen here:
