Did you know that Macomb County is Michigan's third largest county in terms of population, but it is also one of the only counties in Michigan without a four-year university? There are a lot of reasons for that, but they all stem from the fact that our county government is broken.
This past May, the residents of Macomb County voted to reform our broken system of county government by creating an executive branch in the post of County Commissioner. We also voted to reduce the size of our county commission from 28 individuals to 15. It is our hope that this plan will make our county government more effective and efficient in providing needed services to the residents of Macomb.
However, there is a danger. The far right wing has representatives in Macomb, like Leon Drolet, who's followers see this as an opprotunity to codify their anti-tax, anti-government ideology into our very county charter. Somebody needs to be there to oppose them.
I am running for the Charter Commission, which is the group who will oversee this process, in Macomb's 23rd district, which is the southern half of the city of St Clair Shores.
I have my campaign website up and running, so please come on by, check it out and make a donation!
