I live in Michigan, have a (non-violent, non-drug related) felony from 1981, and vote in every election.

It's never come up as an issue. Actually, since my "sentence" was one year of unsupervised probation, I don't think I ever missed an election because of it.

I think that once a person serves his sentence he should be let go with all rights. There should not be second class status for convicted felons for voting, gun ownership or anything else.
